CLAWING BACK CONTROL

22 Sept, 2021

It's never easy when life feels out of control. Feeling out control can make us feel really anxious, and sometimes when you feel out of control, you end up tryna grab back control in other stuff, and that can make you feel even worse, not better. Despair is a real mood dipper. So how do you deal with it? Well, here's three things you can try. Number one, restore some order. Your mind's instinct for control is linked to its instinct for order. Yet, I'm not gonna lie, this point is all about tidying. So, if it feels like your world is spinning out of control, sort something out to bring back some balance. Try pairing up some socks or even tidying a drawer. Number two, achieve something. No, no, we don't mean booking yourself in for a triathlon. Think smaller, anything that will give you a sense of achievement. Maybe go and take a bath, but then make sure you do it really well. Go with the bath bomb, get a book, and make a hot chocolate before you get in. Number three, make a plan and do it. So, this is another achievement kind of thing, but it's about thinking how to get something done that you've been putting off for ages. Think small, and list the steps on the plan before tackling them one at a time. Baking is really good for this, or playing a musical instrument, or even get out a map and plan a walk and go on it. So when things are chaotic, don't just sink into gloom, defy your despair and give something a go.
